Chronic Pain is the type of pain that continues to linger for over six months after the symptoms first surfaced. Most acute pain conditions don’t extend for this duration. They typically resolve themselves once the pain-causing injury or infection heals. Some of these conditions, however, may leave some vestiges such as a misaligned joint, nerve impingement, or internal scarring, that produces constant or recurring pain.
Some types of chronic pain have no apparent cause. However, others are associated with degenerative conditions such as spinal stenosis, arthritis, spondylolisthesis, herniated discs etc. They can cause chronic back or neck pain.
